Breaking Boundaries at Stoney Cove with the LEFEET S1 PRO

Diving has always been my escape. A world where gravity loses its grip and exploration begins. And since discovering the LEFEET S1 PRO DPVs, that exploration has gone to a whole new level. On most dives, I bring along both of my S1 PROs, lending one to my dive buddy. The handheld setup makes light work of hauling ourselves, and our heavy kit, through the water, especially in dry suits. The power, convenience, and reliability of the units have added a whole new dimension to our recreational dives. But last week, everything changed.

I’d just taken delivery of the cylinder mount twin set, a game-changer. Rather than keeping both for myself, I split the set between us and paired them with remote controls I’d purchased earlier. It felt like we’d unlocked a whole new diving experience. This time, we had a mission: reach the far side of Stoney Cove. A place so rarely visited that fewer than 5% of divers ever make it there. It’s a long surface swim for most, and just too far without propulsion. Most divers simply don’t attempt it unless they’re equipped with professional-grade DPVs or tech diving setups.

As soon as we hit the water and engaged the scooters, it was clear this setup was something special. Mounted to our cylinders, the S1 PROs were streamlined and incredibly efficient. It was a noticeable improvement over the handheld setup. We glided through the lake with speed and control I hadn’t experienced before. Not only were we moving faster, we were covering far more ground with far less effort. It completely transformed our ability to explore.

In what felt like no time, we reached the elusive far side of the lake, home to sunken wrecks, planes, and vehicles deliberately placed there for divers to explore. It’s a site that many local divers have heard about, but few have actually seen. Visibility was stunning and crystal clear (for the UK!!!), undisturbed by other divers who rarely make the journey. It felt like discovering a hidden world. We spent around 15 minutes photographing the eerie beauty, capturing scenes our dive friends had only heard about, never seen.

Eventually, we turned back. Cruising along the dramatic drop-offs of the rock face, with sunlight streaming down through the water, it felt like we were flying. The combination of speed, light, and effortless motion created one of the most memorable dive returns I’ve ever had. By the time we reached our exit point, we fully expected the DPVs to be running low. But to our amazement, they still showed two dots of battery left. After everything we’d done!

This wasn’t just a dive, it was a revelation. My dive buddy was so impressed he’s now investing in a twin S1 PRO setup himself. Once we’re both using twin DPVs, our next challenge is a full circumnavigation of the lake on a single charge, something normally only attempted by technical divers or those with full-blown diver propulsion vehicles.

With the LEFEET S1 PRO, the boundaries of what’s possible on a recreational dive are changing. I can’t wait for the next adventure.
